Open Doors

I know it’s been a hot minute since I have done any writing, and trust me, I’m not a fan either. Unfortunately, finishing up a sixteen credit hour semester, working, trying to have a social life, and graduating don’t make for plenty of excess time. Luckily, that’s all over with now!

To give a little update on the past few weeks- I passed all my classes (thank goodness I’m finally done with calculus), walked at my commencement ceremony, moved out of my sorority house, and did a total 360 with my life plans.
Although I walked for my graduation, I still have two more classes I need to take to get my diploma. The original plan was to take both of these in Italy, graduate in August, and hang out in Europe for as long as I could. Unfortunately I won’t be able to take both of these classes at the same time while I am over there, and after exhausting plans A-Z (I’m really not joking), I have decided to come back to Tampa in August.

I am a big believer in doors being opened or closed at the right times in your life, and there was not a single door opening up for me when it came to staying in Europe past August. Those who have been with me the past few weeks know very well that this was not an easy decision for me, nor was it a decision I made quickly. It took me a few weeks of research, a couple heart to hearts, and some serious soul searching but trust me when I say this, the doors for this new plan are all wide open. Although I could have decided to cancel my trip to Italy this summer and graduate by August, that would have been no fun, and if I had decided not to come back to Tampa after my trip, then who knows when I would actually take that last class to finally get my degree.

As for these newly opened doors, well I will be working full time doing a job that I love with people that I love. I will be getting an apartment with my current roommate Allie, whom I have lived with in a tiny little room in our sorority house for the past year, and have loved every minute of (we even have a shared twitter account!). As for the rest of it, I get to stay and explore more of this city I love, take just one class (instead of seven), and do more of the things I want to do.

And as for the time being, I will be working before I head to Italy, and have moved in (temporarily) to a little apartment attached to my church. It’s so peaceful here, my bed is comfier than the one I’ve been sleeping on for the past year and a half, and the light coming in through my bedroom window is too beautiful to even be able to describe. I’m happy, at peace, and doing the things I love. I’ve deleted all my emails (over 12,000), got a new gym membership, and might have another surprise coming soon.

As a result of all my free time, I plan to have plenty of more opportunities to write, as this is one of the many things that I enjoy just doing for me, so stay tuned cause it’s gonna be good.
